Tadoba National Park Officially Known Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve Established in 1955 In Maharashtra. It is the largest park in Maharashtra, India. Tadoba National Park Covered A Total Area of Tadoba 1,727 sq km. including Core Area 625 sq km. & Buffer Area 1,102 sq km.

Tadoba–Andhari Tiger Reserve: Core and Buffer Zones


Tadoba andhari tiger reserve is divided into core zone and buffer zone.
Core zone - The core zone of Tadoba–Andhari Tiger Reserve is the most strictly protected area of the park, covering 625 sq km. This zone is dedicated entirely to wildlife conservation, with human activities highly restricted to ensure minimal disturbance to the animals and their natural habitat.
Buffer zone - The buffer zone of Tadoba–Andhari Tiger Reserve surrounds the core zone and covers an area 1,102 sq km. It serves as a transition area between strictly protected wildlife habitats and human settlements, helping to reduce human-wildlife conflict while maintaining ecological connectivity.

Types Of Tiger In Tadoba National Park


Famous Tigers of Tadoba National Park
1.Maya (T-12) – Legendary tigress known for her boldness and excellent maternal care; matriarch of many descendants.
2.Big Daddy – Dominant male tiger famous for his strength, size, and territorial control.
3.Matkasur – Powerful male, descendant of Maya and Big Daddy; known for his authority in the forest.
4.Bajrang – Newer generation male tiger representing the continuation of Tadoba’s strong tiger bloodline.
5.Collarwali – Tigress often studied for her distinct markings and frequent sightings.
6.Gowri – Tigress noted for raising multiple successful litters.
7.Choti Maya – Another descendant of the original Maya, smaller but equally fierce.

Wildlife


Tadoba is home to a wide variety of wildlife. The Bengal tiger is the star species, but the park also hosts leopards, sloth bears, Indian bison (gaur), wild dogs, jackals, and numerous herbivores such as sambar, chital, nilgai, and wild boar. Bird enthusiasts can spot over 280 species, including eagles, hornbills, kingfishers, and peafowl.
